Composite OPGW Fiber Optic Cable
The optical fiber is loosely placed in a sealed, water-blocking stainless steel tube and filled with water-blocking cable paste. Under different environmental conditions, the steel tube provides protection for the optical fiber during work and insulation. The aluminum layer on the outside of the tube is optional. The stainless steel is located at the center of the cable, protected by one or more layers of aluminum-clad steel and aluminum wrapping wire. Aluminum-clad steel wires are distributed in a trapezoidal shape in the light individual around to form a compact structure. The wire provides mechanical strength to withstand harsh installation and operating conditions and, when in short circuit conditions, controls temperature rise for conductivity.
OPGW Fiber Cable Features:
- The armor layer of OPGW optical cable has good mechanical strength characteristics, so the optical fiber can be well protected from abrasion and tensile stress, ensuring that the optical fiber is not damaged by external forces.
- The armor layer of OPGW optical cable has good anti-lightning discharge performance and short-circuit current overload capability. Therefore, the optical fiber can still operate normally under the condition of lightning and short-circuit current overload.
- OPGW optical cable can be directly installed as an overhead ground wire on the ground wire hanging point of a power pole with any span.
- The cable diameter is small and the weight is light, which will not bring a large extra load to the tower; the operating temperature is -40～+70℃
Appication:
- For lines with high voltage exceeding 110kV, the span is relatively large (generally above 250m);
- It is easy to maintain, and it is easy to solve the problem of line crossing, and its mechanical characteristics can meet the requirements of large line spanning;
- The outer layer of OPGW is metal armor, which has no effect on high-voltage electric corrosion and degradation;
- OPGW must be powered off during construction, and the loss of power outage is relatively large, so OPGW should be used in new high-voltage lines above 110kV.
