When upgrading network cabling in older residential complexes, "butterfly-style" drop cables (commonly known as flat drop cables with an integrated steel wire) are primarily used for the final connection to individual households, while self-supporting outdoor bundled (or stranded) fiber optic cables serve as the backbone lines between buildings.


*Selection for drop cables (from the fiber distribution box to the household): Model GJYXFCH or GJYXCH (self-supporting flat drop cable).
Features: The cable structure includes an integrated high-strength suspension wire (usually steel or phosphated steel wire), allowing for direct aerial installation without the need for additional steel strand suspension hooks.
Older residential complexes often feature numerous exterior wall corners; standard fiber optic cables are highly susceptible to breakage or significant signal attenuation in such environments.


*Selection for complex backbone lines (from the equipment room to the building's fiber distribution box): Model GYXTC8S (central tube "Figure-8" self-supporting cable) or GYTC8S (stranded "Figure-8" self-supporting cable).
Features: The cross-section is shaped like a "Figure-8," featuring an integrated heavy-duty steel suspension strand capable of withstanding --outdoor tensile forces across long spans and in high-wind conditions; typical fiber counts are 12, 24, or 48 cores.
Key safety specifications for outdoor aerial installation: Aerial fiber optic cables must maintain a safe distance from nearby power lines. When crossing power lines, a minimum vertical clearance of 1 meter must be maintained, and the cable must be encased in an insulating protective sleeve.
